Dr. David Ruish, DVM, Director
Dr. Dave Ruish spent 7 years at the University of Guelph receiving his DVM with honors in 1981. After traveling in Europe Dave worked for 6 months at a small animal hospital in southern Ontario. He then continued to study and wrote his BCVMA board exams and moved to BC in June 1982. After much locum work he purchased his own small animal clinic in Vancouver and continued to successfully operate his one man practice until August of 1992. While owning and operating this practice Dave volunteered with the Canada Guide Dog Association. He also aided Muriel Dunn, also known as "Auntie Meow" to treat, spay and neuter over 2,000 young, middle aged and older felines to be placed in loving homes. During this period, 1984-1986, Dave was approached by the BCVMA to serve on the board of examiners to write and mark the anatomy and physiology portion of the board exams, along with Drs. Elena Petrali, Sally Lester and the late Dennis Jackson.
After selling his practice, Dave performed locum work at many Ontario and BC practices. Throughout this time he discovered homeopathy after seeing homeopaths at the Vancouver Centre for Homeopathy. He completed the Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy offered by Dr. Richard Pitcairn in 1997-98. Shortly thereafter he met Julie Anne Lee and developed a strong professional relationship. They worked together at the Adored Beast Veterinary Clinic from 1998-2004. Adored Beast merged with Hudson Place Veterinary Clinic to become Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital where Dave worked from Dec. 2004 to July 2006. Since then Dave has been working at The Healing Place Veterinary Clinic, continuing to provide excellent veterinary homeopathic care for clients and their pets. He attends both conventional and holistic seminars and conferences. Dave resides in Paradise Valley, British Columbia with his 4 rescue animals, two dogs and two cats.
