CAHM's Animal Science Program dates:
Module 1: October 3 - 4, 2010
Module 2: December 1 - 2, 2010
Module 3: March 2 - 3, 2011
Module 4: June 1 - 2, 2011
Course Outline:
This year of CAHM's Animal Science Program will focus on clinical practice. Each module of the program is two days, commencing on Sunday morning and ending on Monday afternoon for Module 1, and Wednesday morning and ending on Thursday afternoon for Modules 2, 3 & 4. The hours for each day are from 10:00am to 6:00pm. There will be a lunch break and two coffee breaks each day.
The schedule for each module will be announced at a later date; however, the areas of clinical study covered in Year 3 will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Venipuncture
- Fecal Analysis
- Physical Examination to Assess Wellness
- X-ray Assessment
- Nail Clipping
- Enemas
- Ear Cleansing
- Anal Gland Expression
- Safe Handling Procedures
- Urine Collection
- Laboratory Procedures and proper handling of Lab Specimens
- Triage/First Aid
- Exposure to daily routines of a Small Animal Practice
